Aye! Do you ever wonder what makes you special? What makes you different from everyone else in the world? Like how could I, one out of billions of others on this Earth, be special and unique? How could God be that creative? Yet, over the years, I have come to realize how creative God is. Think about it. Take a step outside. Take a day in nature. God is remarkable! His creativity has no limit; therefore, I know that I am special. With all that being said, I would like to let you guys in on what God has revealed to me so far.
First off, my two older brothers and my parents all have huge roles in what makes me who I am today. Arguably, I would say that I am the melting pot of my parents and brothers. Throughout highschool, I tried to find out if I belonged more with the jocks or the nerds, but came to realize that I could be in both communities, and truly, loved to be. Also, being the youngest, I gained a quite competitive and high achieving spirit. I wanted to be the best I could in anything I did. When senior year came around, I realized I was striving to be my brothers. I had no clue who I was. It was in me dropping everything that I thought I was that I began to find out who God created me to be. This is not saying that I am not athletic, smart and determined. It is simply saying there were parts of me that made me different from everyone else. I came to experience my tender heart and love for people. It’s funny how the enemy does everything in his power to make sure you do not become who God wants you to be. I hid in my brothers’ shadows and when I was exposed, I anxiously hid. By God’s grace, I was freed from this hold the enemy had over me and began to see me.
In all, I have made the decision to go on World Race to keep seeking my God-given identity and to use who He has created me to be to love others. The two biggest areas in my life where I went out of my comfort zone are when I went to college out of state and when I studied abroad in Rome. I know God is calling me to once again step out of my comfort zone and I am excited to bring you on my journey with me!
I love this way of telling us about yourself. The Race will bring out more and more. Love and hugs, Barbara
